How are your hats and fascinators attached to the head?

Most of my hats are fitted with a transparent hair comb (or a smaller metal comb - depending on the size) that is fixed to the base of the hat. They are inserted into the hair from back to front. The underside of the hat base is covered with high-quality felt.

Larger hats also have an elastic band, which I attach to the hat to match the customer's hair color. The elastic band runs low at the hairline at the back of the head.

For a particularly good fit for certain hat shapes or floral hair ornaments, hairbands of various strengths made of metal or plastic ensure they won't pinch.

For a particularly secure hold, I recommend using additional bobby pins to fix the hat in your hairstyle.

It is also advisable to lightly backcomb your hair beforehand for optimal hold.

On YouTube, you can find many videos showing how to perfectly put on a fascinator or a hat.

I have very short or fine hair; can I still wear small hats?

For ladies with very fine or short hair, I like to attach an elastic band matching their hair color, a narrow hairband, or additional hair clips to my small hats. This way, they definitely stay on! The hairbands I use don't pinch and are so comfortable that you can wear them all day.

After the order, I discuss individually with each customer which attachment is most suitable for them.

Is there always only one of each hat?

My hats and hair accessories are handmade unique pieces that I lovingly craft on my sofa. I've sourced the materials from all over the world; most of them, such as velvet and silk flowers or antique hat veils, are well-preserved vintage originals.

Depending on how much material I have, some of my accessories can be re-made upon request.

How and when will my order be shipped?

I always ship immediately after payment is received, if possible. For new custom orders, shipping takes 3 to 10 days after the order, depending on the effort.

I ship all orders via DHL as an insured package for a flat shipping rate of 5 Euros.

Does Frollein von Sofa also ship internationally?

Yes, of course, I also deliver abroad. Shipping costs vary depending on size and weight. There is an option to send the package insured and with tracking. The exact prices can be determined at checkout. However, I am also happy to help with the selection of different shipping options before placing an order.

What payment options do I have?

You can pay by bank transfer, credit card, via Paypal, or Klarna. Klarna offers the option of installment payments if you wish to fulfill a somewhat larger desire.

Can I exchange my order?

Of course, I want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase. If this is not the case, please contact me and we will find a solution. You will then receive either a voucher with no expiry date or a refund.

Custom-made hats are excluded from exchange.

Do you lend your hats to bloggers or for photo shoots?

To be honest, I'm very reluctant to lend my hats anymore. This is partly because most of my models are unique pieces, and partly because I've had countless bad experiences. The number of hats I've received back partially or even completely damaged, or not at all, is very significant; even from renowned agencies and magazines.

But I am always open to collaborating with established and creative artists, stylists, photographers, or bloggers who work professionally and outside the mainstream.

If a collaboration occurs, I expect my work to be treated with care and respect, and returned undamaged within the agreed timeframe. If a rental fee was agreed upon in advance, it will be refunded upon return. Furthermore, it should be self-evident that my name is mentioned in every publication.

Are Frollein von Sofa's products animal-friendly?

I myself have been a vegetarian for over 20 years and assure you from the bottom of my heart that all my accessories are made with materials that do not come from animals or for which animals were mistreated.

Most of the feathers I use are from old stock. I avoid buying new feathers.

I do not use real fur or leather at all.

Is there a public studio or a shop where I can try on the hats?

Currently, I do not have a publicly accessible studio. Therefore, an internship is also not possible at the moment.

However, since all my hats are one size, they really fit every head. You also don't need the so-called "hat face" for my creations, as I avoid making large pot hats that "crush" or cover the face.Is there a public studio or a shop where I can try on the hats?

Is the "Frollein von Sofa" label sustainable?

As described above, I work as much as possible with materials I find at flea markets or other vintage platforms. My hat-making supplies mainly come from England or Spain.

I do not buy new boxes or cartons for shipping. I use used shipping cartons because the world is already suffocating in packaging materials. My packages may not always look as pretty and elegant as Chanel's from the outside, but they are environmentally friendly and charmingly creased.
